Following our previous look at an opening for a\u00a0Senior Architect at OMA<\/a>, we are using this week\u2019s edition of our\u00a0Job Highlights series<\/a>\u00a0to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for a\u00a0Junior Architectural Designer at Spacial AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The role, based in Palo Alto, CA, calls for an individual who will develop and produce design and construction drawings in ArchiCAD for residential and light commercial projects. Among the qualifications needed for the role are a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Architecture or a related field, advanced proficiency in ArchiCAD, and at least three years of experience in an architecture office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Why the role interests us<\/p>\n

The open role at Spacial AI offers us an example of the growing adoption of artificial intelligence in the design and construction process. Describing themselves as \u201can AI engineering firm,\u201d Spacial seeks to unite structural, MEP, and engineering services in one place to streamline handoffs and engineering workflows.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLicensed engineers and AI work together from the start,\u201d Spacial says about its process. \u201cYou share the set. Our AI validates design intent, runs jurisdiction-specific code checks, and surfaces conflicts. From day one we coordinate structural, MEP, and energy in one loop. PE-licensed engineers review the model, resolve clashes before submittal, generate the sheets and schedules, and prepare clear responses for plan check.\u201d<\/p>\n

The open role comes shortly after engineering giant AECOM acquired an AI startup from Norway<\/a> for $390 million. Last month, meanwhile, Archinect\u00a0spoke with AI-native artificial intelligence company Cedar<\/a>\u00a0on the growing adoption of AI across the architecture industry.<\/p>\n
