Pink Floyd<\/a> are hosting pop-up stores across UK, Europe and America in celebration of the 50th anniversary of \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019.<\/p>\n

The pop-up stores are hosted in collaboration with Sony Music and News & Coffee, the independent magazine retailer and coffee roaster. They will open at kiosks in London, Barcelona, Los Angeles and Paris.<\/p>\n

Each location will stock an exclusive \u2018Wish You Were Here 5\u20190 edition of the Brain Damage fanzine \u2013 a revival of the editorial project originally founded and produced by Glenn
Povey, with five editions available worldwide. Also available is an exclusive limited anniversary pressing of \u2018Wish You Were Here 50\u2019, and a selection of strictly limited edition commemorative merchandise.<\/p>\n

The news of the pop-up shops follows the announcement of a 50th anniversary edition<\/a> of the album featuring unheard versions of classic tracks.<\/p>\n

\u2018Wish You Were Here 50\u2019 is due to arrive on December 12 as a deluxe box set. Fans will also be able to hear the new version on digital platforms, and own it on 3LP, 2CD and Blu-ray.\u00a0Pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition, Noel Fielding<\/a>\u00a0created some paintings inspired by<\/a> Syd Barrett<\/a>\u00a0to celebrate the reissue of\u00a0Pink Floyd\u2019s \u2018Shine On You Crazy Diamond\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was pretty young when my affinity with Pink Floyd and Syd started. I remember going to the library and hiring the tape of \u2018The Piper at the Gates of Dawn\u2019 when I was 12. And I just was like, \u2018What\u2019s this?\u2019 It blew my mind. I couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Fielding told NME in a recent interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I started doing stand up it was all very whimsical. I was always trying to write like I was Syd Barrett. I liked his style, I liked his walk, I liked the way he talked. \u2018Shine On You Crazy Diamond\u2019 is such a beautiful tribute to him,\u201d he added. \u201cWhat\u2019s amazing about Pink Floyd, especially with \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019, is that the artwork was as good as the music.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re 12 and you\u2019re seeing two guys shaking hands, one of them\u2019s on fire, you\u2019re thinking \u2018what?!\u2019 And the music goes exactly with that as well; it\u2019s perfectly in sync with the visuals, with the weird surrealism. And that\u2019s all very Syd Barrett.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded, \u201cIt could be the 70s, but it could be 2040. It\u2019s the future and the past at the same time. It is a masterpiece, that album cover, and that album. It\u2019s a masterpiece. And it\u2019s based on Syd Barrett, who is a walking masterpiece.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\u2019s merch store has shared a new t-shirt design that takes aim<\/a> at\u00a0Roger Waters, <\/a>depicting a cartoon version of Osbourne urinating rainbows on a wall similar to the artwork of Pink Floyd\u2019s classic album \u2018The Wall\u2019.<\/p>\n

This came after he made comments about the late Black Sabbath<\/a> frontman following his death that were criticised by Osbourne\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

\u201cOzzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him, in his, whatever that state that he was in his whole life, we\u2019ll never know,\u201d Waters said in an interview with The Independent Ink\u00a0podcast. Although, he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe music, I have no idea, I couldn\u2019t give a fuck,\u201d he added. \u201cI don\u2019t care about Black Sabbath, I never did, I have no interest in [\u2026] biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn\u2019t care less.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, his son Jack Osbourne took to social media to call out Waters,\u00a0<\/a>calling him \u201cpathetic and out of touch\u201d and claiming his father \u201calways thought you were a c*nt\u201d. His widow Sharon also hit out at Waters, saying \u201che has no charisma, he looks like Frankenstein. The guy is sick in the head, he is not relevant in today\u2019s world. Nobody likes him. [He\u2019s] boring, [has] no charisma, he\u2019s got no stage presence\u2026 [he\u2019s] envious and he\u2019s just a bad seed.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other news, The Damned<\/a> have covered Pink Floyd\u2019s classic song \u2018See Emily Play\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n
