{"id":177345,"date":"2025-12-10T07:31:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T07:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/177345\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T07:31:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T07:31:06","slug":"one-of-australias-biggest-solar-farms-in-heart-of-queensland-coal-country-reaches-full-commercial-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/177345\/","title":{"rendered":"One of Australia&#8217;s biggest solar farms, in heart of Queensland coal country, reaches full commercial operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spanish renewable energy company Acciona Energ\u00eda says that its 380-megawatt (MW) Aldoga solar farm near Gladstone in Queensland has completed commissioning and is now fully operational.<\/p>\n<p>Acciona Energ\u00eda completed construction of the 380 MW (480 MWp) Aldoga Solar Farm in April after only <a href=\"https:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/construction-starts-on-massive-solar-farm-that-will-feed-green-hydrogen-project\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a year of work<\/a>, seven months <a href=\"https:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/new-solar-farm-powers-up-in-coal-and-gas-centre-after-being-completed-seven-months-early\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ahead of schedule<\/a>, and it has now completed its commissioning process.<\/p>\n<p>Located 20 kilometres north-west of Gladstone on the central Queensland coast, the Aldoga Solar Farm will generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 185,000 households.<\/p>\n<p>It is beaten in size only by the Western Downs, New England and Stubbo solar farms, all rated at 400 MW, although New England is currently expanding to 720 MW.<\/p>\n<p>All the output of Aldoga will be bought by Queensland\u2019s state-owned energy company Stanwell Corporation under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompleting the Aldoga Solar Farm ahead of schedule is a testament to the strong collaboration with local partners,\u201d said Gavin Reymond, managing director of Acciona Energ\u00eda Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a renewable energy project developer, owner and operator, ACCIONA Energ\u00eda is proud to contribute to Queensland\u2019s energy transition with a utility-scale asset that delivers clean power, regional employment, and long-term community investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the solar farm created 350 local jobs during peak periods and will now employ 15 permanent roles to operate and maintain the facility. <\/p>\n<p>Australian-made materials and components were used in construction, with local procurement reaching up to $150 million in goods and services from local businesses and suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>And in addition to completing local infrastructure upgrades as part of the construction, Acciona Energ\u00eda has also launched a Small Grants Program that will fund initiatives from an array of local organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Acciona Energ\u00eda now has almost 2 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy installed or under construction across Australia. <\/p>\n<p>This includes the ongoing commissioning process for the 923 MW MacIntyre Wind Farm in Queensland, set to be one of the largest wind farms in the Southern Hemisphere when complete.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to join more than 28,000 others and get the latest clean energy news delivered straight to your inbox, for free, please <a href=\"https:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/sign-up-for-our-daily-newsletter\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">click here to subscribe to our free daily newsletter.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2b561a9f2c6c77811dd67a817ce7db95e1eb9d6c4a0e3fcea47216d6ad3cddd5\"  class=\"avatar avatar-90 photo\" height=\"90\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Joshua S.
