Well, unfortunately, HBO has not revealed if the show is renewed or canceled at this time. However\u2026we do have some information about the show\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Series co-creators Andy and Barbara Muschietti have a three-season plan for the horror show.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur big story arc involves three seasons, mainly based on the three critical cycles of Pennywise, which are 1962, 1935 and 1908,\u201d Andy told Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n This means each season, should it be renewed, would go back in time even further.<\/p>\n Season 1 took place in 1962, so season two would take place in 1935 with season three taking place in 1908. Each of these years corresponds with a major event that happened in fictional Derry, Maine from Stephen King<\/a>\u2019s 1986 novel, \u201cWelcome to Derry.\u201d As we go further back in time, we see more and more of It\u2019s origin story, including taking over Bob Gray\u2019s identity<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI went into the book and looked at the interludes. I realized there was a hidden story there, and that Stephen King was leaving crumbs that could guide is somewhere. It\u2019s a story told backwards,\u201d Andy continued. <\/p>\n The 1935 event that is highlighted in the book is the Bradley Gang Massacre, where some townsfolk murdered a group of gangsters\u2026and Pennywise the Clown was seen.<\/p>\n The 1908 season would surround the Kitchener Iron Works explosion, where over 100 were killed, including 88 kids. This was a huge event for the monster, as it kicked off its feeding cycle.<\/p>\n
