HONG KONG – China’s Wang Manyu<\/a> beat compatriot Kuai Man 4-2 to retain her women’s singles title at the World Table Tennis Finals on Sunday.<\/p>\n

In a clash between the world’s top-ranked women’s doubles pairing, Wang won the first game 11-7, before Kuai came back from 8-4 down to prevail 11-8 in the second.<\/p>\n

Wang regained a foothold afterwards, triumphing 11-8, 11-8 to move 3-1 ahead. Despite Kuai winning the fifth game 11-9, Wang won the sixth 12-10 to secure her second straight singles title in the season-ending WTT tournament.<\/p>\n

“We both played well today. I lost two games where I had an early lead but failed to make timely technical adjustments. In the sixth game, after she leveled the score with two excellent shots, I still had firm belief in myself, which was important for the win,” Wang said.<\/p>\n

“After letting the lead slip away in the second and fifth games, I just told myself to start from zero in the next game and make adjustments again both technically and tactically,” she added.<\/p>\n

After finishing the final international tournament of the year, Wang said that she just wanted to “have a good rest.”<\/p>\n
