US Special Envoy Tom Barrack delineated Israel\u2019s red lines in Syria and
\nensured mechanisms were in place to prevent any breach, the Jerusalem Post said
\non Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Citing two Israeli sources, the newspaper indicated that during a
\nmeeting with Israel\u2019s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the officials reached
\nmutual understandings on two pivotal issues: Israel’s \u201ccontinued freedom of
\noperation\u201d in Syria to \u201cneutralize emerging threats,\u201d and the progress of
\nUS-mediated talks with Syria aimed at forging a new security arrangement.<\/p>\n
“Each side now understands what it needs to do,” one source
\nnoted, while the other observed, “It was a good meeting. Israel and the US
\nsee eye-to-eye.”<\/p>\n
The meeting came after a Reuters report indicated that US-mediated talks
\nintended to establish a new security arrangement had stalled. Sources
\nattributed the breakdown to Israel\u2019s request to open a \u201chumanitarian corridor\u201d
