One day after Rob Reiner<\/a> and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed in their home in Los Angeles, President Trump shared<\/a> a lengthy post on TruthSocial claiming that the beloved director had a \u201craging obsession\u201d with him. He wrote<\/a>, \u201cRob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.\u201d Once the message was reshared to X, Instagram, and other platforms, stars rallied to defend the late filmmaker. Jack White<\/a>, who\u2019s criticized<\/a> Trump throughout his administration, reposted the president\u2019s message and expressed his detestation of it. \u201cTrump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much,\u201d White wrote<\/a>. \u201cTo use someone\u2019s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maria Shriver, journalist and ex-wife to California Republican governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, also called Trump\u2019s comments \u201cabsolutely disgusting\u201d and encouraged people not to \u201cignore\u201d what he said. \u201cWe should all be horrified and disgusted by this inhumane behavior, because that\u2019s what it is. Rob and Michele Reiner were good, kind, loving people,\u201d she writes. \u201cTheir family is in deep, unimaginable pain. What kind of human being would share a statement like this, much less a president?\u201d<\/p>\n

White was blunt and straight to the point in his defense of Reiner. Despite never knowing him personally, White was impacted by Reiner\u2019s work and felt compelled to criticize Trump. He wrote, \u201cGod bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world. I never even met you and I still stand by you.\u201d<\/p>\n

I try to rise above the noise all the time, but this individual has no human decency. This goes beyond. It\u2019s absolutely disgusting. Shriver, a close family friend of the Reiners, felt \u201chorrified\u201d reading Trump\u2019s TruthSocial message. She also took this moment to remind people that the Reiner family needs \u201ccompassion\u201d and not whatever Trump is doing at the moment. She writes<\/a>, \u201cAnd furthermore, for the record: Rob and Michele Reiner were devoted parents. They deeply loved all their children and they never gave up trying to care for them. Every single one of them. It\u2019s important to know this and understand this. This is not a time for judgement, for politics or rumors. It\u2019s a time for compassion, for understanding, for love. Just because we have a president who can\u2019t do better doesn\u2019t mean each of us can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shriver\u2019s son, Patrick, followed his mother\u2019s statement with one of his own, echoing his disgust.<\/p>\n

Gad reshared Trump\u2019s message on Instagram Threads, calling it \u201ctoo low\u201d even for Trump. He writes<\/a>, \u201cThere is no low that is too low for this fucking psychopath. Rob Reiner was 1000 times the man you are and unlike you, he actually cared about the American people. Go paint your hand on your gold fucking toilet and destroy things like the White House. That\u2019s what you do best.\u201d<\/p>\n

While talking about the tragedies<\/a> that happened over the weekend, the women of The View called Trump\u2019s comments \u201cshameful.\u201d Navarro shared, \u201cFor Trump to have put that out today, I\u2019m gonna say it,\u00a0damnit, there\u2019s an American family grieving. This is a tragedy not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him. And for the president of the United States to make this about him and a way to attack Rob Reiner because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with is shameful, it\u2019s disgraceful, and, of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.\u201d<\/p>\n
