However, they are only displayed when the octopus is about to dispense its deadly poison,&#8221; according to a statement from experts at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (aims.gov.au).<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">In the video, the man films himself delicately holding the octopus, quickly grabbing it whenever it tries to swim away.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;I\u2019ve never seen it before,&#8221; said McConnell.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"668\" height=\"376\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/screenshot-2025-12-15-151236.png\" alt=\"A man unknowingly handled one of the deadliest animals on earth in the Philippines.\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">A man unknowingly handled one of the deadliest animals on earth in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sub-text\"> (Andy McConnell via Storyful)<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Thankfully, the octopus was in a good enough mood not to release its deadly toxins onto the palm of McConnell.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Within its salivary glands live bacteria, which produce the chemical tetrodotoxin, according to <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_earth-space_article_main-content_article-body_2_4\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"http:\/\/aims.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">aims.gov.au<\/a>.
