\n\tCould Netflix close the deal again?<\/p>\n
\n\tOn Tuesday, \u201cGolden\u201d from KPop Demon Hunters made the Oscars shortlist<\/a> for Best Original Song. The chart-topping song from the streamer\u2019s most-watched movie ever <\/a>is performed by HUNTR\/X (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami). Given the film and song\u2019s following, this one poses a serious threat to the other shortlisted musical contenders.<\/p>\n \n\tLast year, Netflix took home the statuette for \u201cEl Mal\u201d from Emilia P\u00e9rez, and let\u2019s not forget the streamer has another horse in the song race too: Train Dreams. The Clint Bentley-directed film has been a rising star<\/a> in several other category predictions, and Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner\u2019s original song \u201cTrain Dreams\u201d also made the shortlist cut here. Both \u201cTrain Dreams\u201d and \u201cGolden\u201d have already been Golden Globe-nominated<\/a> in Original Song.<\/p>\n \n\tAnother one following a strong Golden Globe nominee trajectory is Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cDream as One\u201d from Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/a> (20th Century Studios), written by Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson. Although the film is yet to be released, big box office expectations<\/a> on the eve of Oscar voting mean the song is one to watch.<\/p>\n \n\tWarner Bros came out strong today with two songs from Sinners<\/a><\/a> making the shortlist: \u201cLast Time (I Seen the Sun)\u201d performed by Alice Smith and Miles Caton, written by Smith, Caton and Ludwig G\u00f6ransson; and \u201cI Lied to You\u201d performed by Caton and written by\u00a0Raphael Saadiq & G\u00f6ransson. The latter was already named Best Song at the Hollywood Music Media Awards and is Globe-nominated too.<\/p>\n \n\tPlus, Warner Bros has F1: The Movie<\/a> with Apple Original Films. Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u201cDrive\u201d made the cut, thought its other contender, \u201cLose My Mind\u201d by Don Toliver featuring Doja Cat, was snubbed.<\/p>\n \n\tAnother notable snub was Amanda Seyfried-starrer The Testament of Ann Lee, with no mention of Daniel Blumberg\u2019s \u201cClothed By the Sun.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWarner Bros\u2019 Sinners isn\u2019t the only double-threat on deck. In an outcome that surprised no one and again matched the Globe nominations, Universal\u2019s Wicked: For Good<\/a> snagged two spots <\/a>with \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d performed by Ariana Grande\u2019s Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo\u2019s Elphaba anthem \u201cNo Place Like Home.\u201d Both are written by Stephen Schwartz.<\/p>\n
