In August, Cristiano Ronaldo (presumably) got down on one knee and asked his long-term girlfriend and mother of his children, Georgina Rodr\u00edguez<\/a>, to marry him. What made this gesture so surprising wasn\u2019t that it took him ten years to propose but that he popped the question with a ludicrously large diamond ring. Jeweler Maggi Simpkins estimated that the oval diamond is somewhere between 25 and 30 carats and cost $2 million to $4 million. For a mere civilian like myself, that\u2019s a lot to digest. Apparently, it was for Rodr\u00edguez, too.<\/p>\n In a new interview with Elle Spain<\/a>, Rodr\u00edguez said that, although they\u2019ve been together for a decade, Ronaldo proposing was \u201cthe last thing\u201d on her mind. \u201cIt took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me,\u201d she said, adding that she was \u201cso shocked\u201d she had to leave the ring in her room for an entire day before opening it again (after she snapped a photo for Instagram<\/a>, of course). Although the size astounded her, she agreed that the huge rock is \u201cgorgeous\u201d and was \u201cthe least he could offer me after ten years of waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n While you might think Rodr\u00edguez can\u2019t really wear a rock that size out in public, the couple did lug it to a dinner<\/a> at the White House last month.
