\n\tStar Wars<\/a>: Starfighter is getting ready to hit the ground running. <\/p>\n

\n\tFilmmaker Shawn Levy<\/a> took to Instagram<\/a> on Thursday to celebrate the forthcoming feature having wrapped filming. Ryan Gosling<\/a> stars in the movie that Disney<\/a> is set to release theatrically on May 28, 2027. <\/p>\n

\n\tLevy shared a photo of himself jogging along the set. He added the caption, \u201cThat\u2019s a wrap! Headed into\u00a0#Starfighter\u00a0post-production like\u2026\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe director previously marked the start of the shoot in September by sharing a photo of Gosling<\/a> and co-star Flynn Gray posing in costume with the Mediterranean Sea behind them. \u201cSomewhere in the Mediterranean Sea #Starfighter,\u201d Levy captioned that image.<\/p>\n

\n\tPlot details for Star Wars: Starfighter<\/a> have not yet been revealed, although the stand-alone movie is set roughly five years after the events of 2019\u2019s\u00a0Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was the last title from the franchise to hit theaters. Director Jon Favreau\u2019s The Mandalorian & Grogu is set for theatrical release on May 22, 2026, as a spinoff to the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.<\/p>\n

\n\tMatt Smith<\/a>, Mia Goth<\/a>, Aaron Pierre<\/a>, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams<\/a> round out the cast<\/a> for Star Wars: Starfighter.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe reality is that this script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters,\u201d Gosling told the audience earlier this year at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJonathan Tropper wrote the script for the movie that Levy has been developing since 2022. Levy and Kathleen Kennedy serve as producers. <\/p>\n

\n\tLevy\u2019s recent directorial credits include Disney\u2019s massive hit Deadpool & Wolverine and Netflix\u2019s The Adam Project. <\/p>\n

\n\tGosling leads next year\u2019s Amazon MGM Studios feature Project Hail Mary.<\/p>\n
