Hollyoaks\u2019 Mercedes McQueen faces a difficult time this Christmas<\/a>, as her devastating addiction struggle destroys her life. After Gemma Johnson\u2019s sinister revenge plan has catastrophic consequences, can anyone help her over the festive period?<\/p>\n

“Mercedes has become hooked on prescription anxiety pills<\/a>, thanks to vengeful Gemma,” our Hollyoaks source reminds us. “Over Christmas, the McQueens come together to celebrate \u2013 but Mercedes is fighting a silent battle as she finds it impossible to cope without her illicit medication\u2026”<\/p>\n

When Mercedes wakes up on Christmas morning<\/a>, she feels unable to face the day without the anxiety pills. She\u2019s not exactly in a merry mood, but manages to paint on a smile for her loved ones when the kids wake up full of festive cheer.<\/p>\n

The McQueen mayhem begins, but the atmosphere turns when Warren arrives in a charming Santa costume! He\u2019s disappointed to realise that he\u2019s the only one dressed up though, as Mercedes has forgotten her matching elf attire. <\/p>\n

As she continues to struggle through the day, desperate Mercedes spots a lifeline when she sees Gemma outside. From over the fence, she pleads for more pills \u2013 but will Gemma continue to feed her addiction?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in the McQueen house, while John Paul takes charge of cooking Christmas dinner and Prince worries about the portions of turkey, Theresa is excitedly waiting for Dodger to arrive<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It seems there\u2019s romance in the air for these former lovebirds!\u201d exclaims our spy. \u201cTheresa feels giddy and wants to impress Dodger, so she seeks out her Mercedes for some advice. But during their heart-to-heart, Mercedes ends up admitting she has doubts about her reunion with Warren\u2026”<\/p>\n

Dodger eventually arrives to have Christmas dinner with the McQueens and soon discovers he\u2019s rather overdressed \u2013 as the family are all in their pyjamas! But he quickly gets his jammies on, to the delight of his daughter Myra-Pocahontas.<\/p>\n

In true McQueen style, things don\u2019t go to plan \u2013 though Theresa later gets a knock on the door that makes her Christmas wish come true. But will it be a heartwarming or heartbreaking end to the day for Mercedes?<\/p>\n

These scenes will air on Tuesday, 23 December.<\/p>\n

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming<\/a> premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.<\/p>\n
