{"id":195909,"date":"2025-12-21T04:52:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/195909\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T04:52:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T04:52:11","slug":"womens-hoops-falls-to-marshall-in-overtime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/195909\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s Hoops Falls to Marshall in Overtime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HUNTINGTON, W.Va. \u2013 Marshall made 13-of-30 (.433) from three and scored 27 points off 20 James Madison turnovers to top the Dukes in overtime, 83-74, in Sun Belt Conference women&#8217;s basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside the Cam Henderson Center.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLeading 58-51 heading into the final period, JMU (9-5, 1-1 Sun Belt) shot 3-of-13 (.231) from the field, connecting on just two shots in the final 7:16 of regulation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIn overtime, the Thundering Herd (11-3, 2-0 Sun Belt) hit every shot, going 7-for-7 from the line, 4-for-4 from the floor and 1-for-1 from three-point range. Meanwhile, JMU went just 1-of-11 (.091) in the extra period.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/jmusports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/ashanti-barnes\/23598\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23598\" target=\"_blank\">Ashanti Barnes<\/a> led the way for JMU with 21 points and nine rebounds, with all her points coming in the first half. McDaniel finished with 19 points on 7-for-18 and produced a career-best four assists.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/jmusports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/bree-robinson\/23601\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23601\" target=\"_blank\">Bree Robinson<\/a> chipped in with nine points, a season-high six boards and tied her career high with five steals, while <a href=\"https:\/\/jmusports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/brianna-mcleod\/23610\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23610\" target=\"_blank\">Brianna McLeod<\/a> added eight points, four rebounds and three blocks off the bench.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFor Marshall, freshman Olivia Olson scored a career-high 26 points, knocking down 6-of-11 (.545) from behind the arc.
