{"id":195932,"date":"2025-12-21T05:10:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T05:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/195932\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T05:10:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T05:10:09","slug":"sacha-fm-extends-with-stormers-through-to-2029","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/195932\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacha FM extends with Stormers through to 2029"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t\tIn a major boost to the Stormers, as they enjoyed a few years ago when Damian Willemse extended his contract, Sacha FM has followed suit.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>Springbok flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has signed a long-term contract extension that will keep him in Cape Town until at least July 2029, strengthening the Stormers Rugby\u2019s Project 2029 and securing one of the most exciting talents in world rugby.<\/p>\n<p>Since making his Stormers debut at just 19 in a United Rugby Championship (URC) quarterfinal in 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/sport\/rugby\/not-yet-guy-springboks-feinberg-mngomezulu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Feinberg-Mngomezulu\u2019s<\/a> rise has been rapid and relentless.<\/p>\n<p>He has developed into one of the game\u2019s most sought-after players, and was attracting significant interest from overseas clubs, but chose to remain at his boyhood club.<\/p>\n<p>A product of the Stormers Rugby pathway, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/sport\/rugby\/feinberg-mngomezulu-humility-lead-greatness\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Feinberg-Mngomezulu<\/a> was identified early as an exceptional talent and progressed through the system, going on to lead Western Province U21 to a national title in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>His continued presence is a powerful statement of intent for a programme built around producing and keeping world-class talent in the Cape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/sport\/rugby\/feinberg-mngomezulu-ready-role-required-wallabies\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Feinberg-Mngomezulu\u2019s<\/a> impact has been felt at every level. After making his Springbok debut in 2024, he was nominated for World Rugby Men\u2019s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year, then went on to claim SA Rugby\u2019s Young Player of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>2025 awards<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, he was named South Africa\u2019s URC Player of the Season and recognised by his peers as MyPlayers\u2019 2025 Players\u2019 Player of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>An instinctive gamebreaker with a full skillset, running, passing, kicking and the composure to control moments, Feinberg-Mngomezulu is also known for his high standards, work ethic and drive to keep evolving.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Rugby John Dobson said the extension is a defining moment for the long-term plan for the Cape franchise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSacha is a player teams around the world want, that\u2019s the reality of modern rugby, and we\u2019re incredibly proud that he\u2019s chosen to commit his prime years to this jersey,\u201d said Dobson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is exactly what Project 2029 is about: identifying talent early, developing it properly, and building a squad where our best players want to stay, lead and win together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSacha\u2019s journey through our system has been outstanding, and he\u2019s still only scratching the surface. Keeping him in Cape Town is massive for our supporters and for what we\u2019re building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Feinberg-Mngomezulu said his decision to stay at the Stormers was about belief in the team, the city and the vision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCape Town is home. I grew up supporting this team and I know what it means to the people here,\u201d said Feinberg-Mngomezulu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s always noise and interest when things start going well, but what we have here, the squad, the coaches, the connection with our fans, is special.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ambition is clear with Project 2029, and I want to be part of what we\u2019re building and where we\u2019re going.
