\n\tAs Kate Winslet<\/a> made her directorial debut with Goodbye June<\/a>, she had to wear one too many hats for her comfort.<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by her son Joe Anders<\/a>, Winslet originally only planned to produce and star in the Christmas family drama, and when the prospect of helming the feature came up, the Oscar winner though she \u201ccannot do three jobs\u201d on one production.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI know I\u2019m good at multitasking, but this is too many things,\u201d she told Digital Spy<\/a>. \u201cI desperately tried to recast myself [and] had a really good list of a handful of people who would have been absolutely brilliant in that role.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWinslet added, \u201cBut at that point\u2026 well, first of all, Netflix were like, \u2018Uh-uh\u2019 and secondly, I\u2019d cast all these incredible actors. How could I not go and play with them? Because that\u2019s what we do. We play, we pretend and it\u2019s an amazing thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNow playing in select theaters, Goodbye June premieres Dec. 24 on Netflix, following four siblings (Winslet, Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough and Johnny Flynn) as their sick titular mother (Helen Mirren) takes a turn for the worse during the holidays.<\/p>\n

\n\tDiscussing her directorial debut recently with Deadline, Winslet told Baz Bamigboye, \u201cI\u2019m always very supportive of directors<\/a> I work with, and that relationship has always meant a great deal to me. And I\u2019m very respectful of it as well.
