KNOXVILLE, Tenn. \u2013 The Gardner-Webb (2-13) men’s basketball team dropped a 94-52 contest at No. 20 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon inside Food City Center.<\/p>\n

Junior guard Curtis Williams III<\/a> paced the Runnin’ Bulldogs with 14 points to go along with a team-high four rebounds. Redshirt junior DJ Jefferson<\/a> posted his second straight double figure game after finishing with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.<\/p>\n

As a team, Gardner-Webb shot 34.5% from the floor, knocking down 20-of-58 attempts, including 7-for-30 from distance. The Dawgs concluded the game with 22 of their 52 points coming in the paint while getting 20 points from the bench.<\/p>\n

Gardner-Webb jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead following a three from Williams and a make from the charity stripe by sophomore forward Jacob Hogarth<\/a>. However, Tennessee used a massive 24-2 run to seize control of the first half, heading to the break leading 52-19.<\/p>\n

The Volunteers jumped out to as many as a 46-point lead before closing out the game with a 94-52 final score.<\/p>\n

Gardner-Webb returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 31, opening Big South Conference play against Charleston Southern.
