Let\u2019s remove the uncertainty and have a proper and thorough look at this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Opposition Leader Sussan Ley on Monday said her party had drafted terms for a federal royal commission into antisemitism and the Bondi attack, which would examine, among other things, \u201cattitudes towards, or conduct relating to, the state of Israel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The opposition has written its own terms of reference for a royal commission into antisemitism and the Bondi terror attack.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/14283000ddc2ee66aa2796fdb568deef5c80df50.jpeg\" height=\"390\" width=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The opposition has written its own terms of reference for a royal commission into antisemitism and the Bondi terror attack.Credit: AAPIMAGE<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose of this royal commission is to uncover how antisemitism was allowed to escalate, how<br \/>warnings were missed or ignored, and whether existing laws, institutions and funding arrangements<br \/>failed to protect Australians,\u201d Ley said in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Penny Wong defended the government\u2019s record on tackling rising antisemitism in Australia since the October 7 attacks in 2023 and insisted the security agency review would be independent despite being run out of the prime minister\u2019s department.<\/p>\n<p>Loading<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is not an internal review. It\u2019s a review led by Dennis Richardson,\u201d Wong told ABC Radio National. \u201cI\u2019ve worked with Dennis \u2026 I don\u2019t think anybody would doubt Mr Richardson\u2019s willingness to tell it as it is to whichever government is in power \u2013 that has been his career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wong said Labor had cracked down on hate speech, criminalised doxxing, banned Nazi symbols and expelled the Iranian ambassador over the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps\u2019 role in several antisemitic attacks, including the firebombing of the Adass Israel synagogue in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I said last week that we needed to do more, and we are, which is why we have announced a stronger package of legislative reforms to crack down on those who spread hate, division and radicalisation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the perception the government was avoiding a royal commission because of what it might uncover, Wong said: \u201cThat\u2019s imputing intentions which are not there\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Independent MP Allegra Spender, whose Wentworth electorate takes in Bondi, said the prime minister\u2019s departmental review was \u201cinadequate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have 15 Australians who have died. If we look at the past honestly, then we have a chance of moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooking at the intelligence, it\u2019s not good enough.
