Sam Altman, the CEO of\u00a0OpenAI, expressed concerns about\u00a0Google\u2019s\u00a0dominance in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). He believes that Google\u2019s immense power and business model could pose a significant threat in the AI space.<\/p>\n
Altman, in a conversation with Alex Kantrowitz on the\u00a0Big Technology Podcast, highlighted the potential danger that Google\u2019s AI capabilities pose.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoogle is still a huge threat\u2026you know extremely powerful company,\u201d stated Altman.<\/p>\n

He reflected on the situation in 2023 when Google\u2019s AI efforts were not as effective due to their product direction. Altman suggested that if Google had chosen to focus on OpenAI at that time, the latter\u00a0would have been in a\u00a0\u201creally bad place.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they would have just been able to smash us,\u201d stated the OpenAI CEO.<\/p>\n
Altman also noted that Google\u2019s business model is one of the strongest in the tech industry, and he believes that the company will be slow to relinquish it.<\/p>\n
However, he expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of Google simply integrating AI into existing systems like web search, suggesting that a complete redesign with AI at the forefront would be more successful.<\/p>\n
