PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Coastal Carolina\u00a0erased an early 10-point deficit and leaned on a balanced scoring and rebounding effort to defeat Saint Joseph’s, 68\u201362, Monday night at Hagen Arena.<\/p>\n

The Hawks raced to a 10-point lead in the game’s first five minutes, but Coastal Carolina (8-6) seized momentum with a 16\u20135 first-half run to take its first lead with 8:39 remaining before carrying a 32\u201327 advantage into halftime.<\/p>\n

Coastal opened the second half with an 8\u20132 run sparked by Rasheed Jones<\/a>, who scored four points during the stretch, including a putback off an offensive rebound that pushed the lead to nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After, St. Joe’s (7-5) tied the game at 48-all, Joshua Beadle<\/a> made two free throws and Jones sank a three to give the Chants a five-point advantage and maintained the lead the remainder of the contest.<\/p>\n

The Hawks cut Coastal’s lead to two with 5:19 remaining, but Beadle’s floater in the lane and AJ Dancler’s<\/a> three pushed the lead back to seven.<\/p>\n

Dancler led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Jones recorded the first double-double of his career with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Beadle scored 17 points as well.<\/p>\n

The Hawks were led by Derek Simpson, who recorded 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Saint Joseph’s also got 13 points and nine rebounds from Dasear Haskins. Khaafiq Myers had 12 points and two steals.<\/p>\n

Coastal Carolina finished with a 38\u201334 rebounding advantage and held Saint Joseph’s to 38.7 percent shooting from the field, using defensive efficiency and control of the glass to generate decisive second-half runs.<\/p>\n
