{"id":199908,"date":"2025-12-23T14:34:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T14:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/199908\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T14:34:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T14:34:14","slug":"ben-ainslie-strikes-oakley-capital-deal-to-keep-british-americas-cup-bid-afloat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/199908\/","title":{"rendered":"Ben Ainslie strikes Oakley Capital deal to keep British America\u2019s Cup bid afloat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">British \u200csailor Ben Ainslie has finally secured the backing he needs for his 2027 America\u2019s Cup campaign, announcing a deal \u200dwith Oakley Capital on Tuesday after what he admitted has been a stressful chapter in his mission to \u201cbring the Cup home\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Ainslie\u2019s Athena Racing team said a majority ownership investment from the British private equity group would provide \u201clong-term financial stability to compete not only in the next America\u2019s Cup but across multiple future cycles\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cUp \u2060until now, basically, I\u2019ve been funding the team myself \u2026 yeah, I\u2019d say it\u2019s been pretty stressful. But I believed in the team, I believed in the [America\u2019s Cup] partnership, and I was willing to take that risk. So I\u2019m delighted that that\u2019s been worthwhile,\u201d Ainslie said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">As well as being the most successful Olympic sailor, the 48-year-old also lifted the \u201cAuld Mug\u201d in 2013 with Oracle Team USA and has made it his \u200dgoal to secure a first victory for Britain, where the event was first contested off the south coast in 1851.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">However, Ainslie was left \u200dwithout funding for his latest campaign to win the coveted trophy after parting ways in January with INEOS, which had financed his attempts in 2021 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The AC75 Ineos Britannia team in action during the Louis Vuitton Cup Final in the 37th America\u2019s Cup in Barcelona.
