\"Yami As filmmaker Aditya Dhar<\/a> continues to bask in the success of Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, his wife Yami Gautam<\/a> has spoken candidly about their deeply personal and intimate wedding. In a heartfelt conversation, the actor reflected on how their relationship unfolded organically, without grand gestures or cinematic moments.<\/p>\n

\u2018There was no proposal moment\u2019<\/p>\n

Yami revealed that their bond grew quietly during the promotions of Uri: The Surgical Strike. \u201cThere was no \u2018I am going to propose you\u2019 kind of moment or anything filmy,\u201d she told Humans of Bombay, adding that this simplicity was exactly what made it special. \u201cWe just knew that we really want to get married. Our families were extremely aligned and very happy for us.\u201dShe shared that even without the pandemic, she would have chosen the same kind of wedding. \u201cI would have loved to get married the same way… just a few family members, everybody\u2019s blessings, and nature around us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018We wanted it to be about rituals\u2019<\/p>\n

Describing their hill wedding, Yami spoke about how meaningful tradition was to both of them. \u201cWe wanted to make it more about rituals than anything else. We love our traditions, our Hindu culture. Each and everything that is said at that time has a meaning.\u201dShe added that the setting felt like a blessing. \u201cFor me, to have the mighty deodars in the background, nature blessing us out there in the open… both of us had our hearts in those hills.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the most emotional moments for Yami was choosing what to wear. \u201cMy mom\u2019s saree was always there for me,\u201d she said, explaining how she wanted to look exactly like her mother did on her wedding day.She also revealed that she kept things extremely simple. \u201cI did my own makeup. I thought that\u2019s too far-fetched, but it just worked out. Surilie did my hair,\u201d she said, admitting she hadn\u2019t imagined doing it herself but felt it was right in the moment.She also spoke about the traditional reeda dupatta and pahadi nath, both gifted by her nani and maternal family. \u201cMy nani had kept it ever since I was born… that\u2019s exactly how I wanted to get married. There is nothing I would change about that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Trust your instinct, women are intuitive\u2019<\/p>\n

Reflecting on relationships, Yami said she strongly believes in instinct. \u201cI think we women are very intuitive by nature. Your first instinct about anyone, if you go back to it, will always be correct,\u201d she said.Calling Aditya a rarity, she added, \u201cHere\u2019s a man who is a rarity in today\u2019s time. That was my first instinct.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Aditya Dhar is her \u2018green forest\u2019<\/p>\n

Yami recalled small gestures that made a big impact, including one moment during Article 370 promotions when she was pregnant. \u201cHe just wanted to make sure that I was comfortable. He got me a pillow,\u201d she said, laughing about how the internet later crowned him a \u2018green forest\u2019.She also shared an anecdote told to her by her hair stylist from the Uri sets. \u201cShe said she was sitting on the floor eating, and he offered her his director\u2019s chair. She said she has worked on so many films and nobody does that proactively.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2018Marriage is of families, not just two people\u2019<\/p>\n

For Yami, family alignment was crucial. \u201cIt was very important that my parents felt the same amount of respect and security with Aditya,\u201d she said, adding that the feeling was mutual. \u201cIt\u2019s a marriage of families, not just two individuals.\u201dShe revealed that Aditya instantly fit in by simply being himself. \u201cHe wasn\u2019t trying to be on his best behaviour. He was cooking, taking charge of what\u2019s going to be made.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2018Everything just fell into place\u2019<\/p>\n

Summing up their journey, Yami said there was no single defining moment. \u201cThere was no \u2018that moment\u2019 moment. Everything just fell in place. Everyone was loving and respectful towards one another.\u201dShe concluded with gratitude and calm certainty. \u201cMaybe we were fortunate. Or maybe this is life rewarding us. Or it\u2019s the kind of person he is and the kind of person I am.\u201dYami Gautam and Aditya Dhar tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on June 4, 2021, in Himachal Pradesh.
