A well-respected head coach comes with a well-rounded coaching staff. Prince and her assistants, Mark Wadsley, Maggie Dickman, and Beth Riley, won the 2024 NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year award.<\/p>\n
While Prince\u2019s staff is young, they all boast extensive collegiate and professional playing and coaching experience, which gives the Hawks an advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s beneficial to have a younger coach,\u201d senior Emily Tammaro said. \u201cI found it very easy to talk to Hannah, along with Maggie and Mark. They\u2019re a very young staff, so I feel like we are able to be more relatable, which has been really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI understand the grind physically,\u201d Prince said. \u201cI do remember it like it was yesterday, my recruiting process, my playing time, I try to keep that perspective at all times. I don\u2019t want them to feel like I know exactly what it\u2019s like to walk a day in their shoes, but I also want them to know that I understand what they endure throughout the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prince\u2019s pedigree as a \u201cplayers\u2019 coach\u201d hasn\u2019t just led to success on the field, but has attracted players from across the world.<\/p>\n
Kluyt joined the program as a freshman in 2023 from Goirle, Netherlands. She was looking for a small school that wanted to challenge bigger teams and compete nationally. Kluyt talked with numerous coaches and players before making her decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe atmosphere and the vibe I felt when I talked with them was really good,\u201d Kluyt said. \u201cEverything combined, from the academics to the athletics, made it the best choice for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hawks had 10 international players on their roster this season, hailing from Australia, Canada, England, France, New Zealand, Scotland, and the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tammaro spent her first three college seasons at Old Dominion. While playing in her home state of Virginia, she won the 2023 Big East championship with ODU. Despite entering the portal later than most last year, St. Joe\u2019s was exactly what she was looking for.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt felt like home,\u201d Tammaro said. \u201cIt was just one of those things that I knew as soon as I talked to Hannah.
