No one is more excited about Stu Macher coming back in Scream 7 than Matthew Lillard. The actor teased his long-awaited return at Silver Scream Con over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a call from Kevin Williamson in the middle of the day,\u201d Lillard recalls. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I have to take this phone call that\u2019s coming in.\u2019 And I took the phone call, and we kind of small talked. He\u2019s like, \u2018Are you interested in coming back?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I literally thought to myself, \u2018I\u2019ve been waiting for this call for, like, 20 years,’\u201d he chuckles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so excited. I know exactly where I was. I know exactly that time of day. I know what I was wearing. I was like, \u2018Oh, my God!\u2019 And I was on a walk. It\u2019s so weird, it\u2019s like these moments that\u2019s burned into your memory,\u201d Lillard reflects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be back. The movie\u2019s fantastic, and I\u2019m really excited for people to see it.\u201d He continues, \u201d \u201cIt\u2019s not gonna ruin the franchise, that\u2019s the good news. I don\u2019t think!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lillard explains, \u201cThey were gonna try and keep it secret until the movie came out. I\u2019m like, \u2018Okay, we\u2019ll try it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

His Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich added, \u201cI knew how much he wanted to do it, and when he got it I remember just being elated for him because it\u2019s something he had been wanting for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Due out on February 27, 2026, Scream 7 is directed by Williamson from a script by Guy Busick (Scream\u00a02022, Scream VI).<\/p>\n

In addition to Lillard, other returning cast members include Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, David Arquette,\u00a0and Scott Foley.<\/p>\n

Isabel May, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O\u2019Connor, Sam Rechner, Asa Germann, Anna Camp, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Michelle Randolph, and Jimmy Tatro round out the cast.<\/p>\n

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the latest installment in the slasher saga is expected to focus on final girl Sidney Prescott and her family approximately two years after the events of Scream VI.<\/p>\n
