{"id":203876,"date":"2025-12-25T21:49:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T21:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/203876\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T21:49:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T21:49:09","slug":"japans-10-major-power-firms-to-cut-rates-by-over-%c2%a51000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/203876\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan&#8217;s 10 major power firms to cut rates by over \u00a51,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japan&#8217;s 10 major power utilities Thursday announced plans to lower their electricity rates by over \u00a51,000 for a standard household next January, thanks to a resumption of government subsidies to cushion the impact of inflation.<\/p>\n<p>The fee for an average household is set to fall by \u00a51,170 to \u00a57,464 in the regular service area of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings.<\/p>\n<p>Chubu Electric Power will see the steepest drop among the power utilities at \u00a51,175, while Hokkaido Electric Power will have the smallest drop at \u00a51,028.<\/p>\n<p>Government subsidies for household electricity bills are set at \u00a54.5 per kilowatt-hour.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the government will give city gas subsidies of \u00a518 per cubic meter.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Tokyo Gas&#8217; rate for a standard household will fall \u00a5545 to \u00a55,106.<\/p>\n<p>Osaka Gas will see the largest drop at \u00a5548, and Saibu Gas the smallest at \u00a5419.<\/p>\n<p>The government has been subsidizing electricity and gas rates intermittently since 2023, automatically reflecting them in consumers&#8217; utility bills as discounts based on their power and city gas usage.<\/p>\n<p>The new round of subsidies covers January-March 2026, when heating demand typically rises.
