Call The Midwife<\/a> is poised to make a comeback with its 15th season in just a few days, following the BBC’s<\/a> firm denial of rumours that it had been cancelled.<\/p>\n The much-loved BBC<\/a> period drama first graced our screens in 2012 and has since delivered 14 seasons along with numerous festive specials.<\/p>\n Despite whispers suggesting the series was nearing its end, the BBC swiftly set the record straight, confirming not only the return of the show but also two additional seasons, a cinema-release film, and a prequel series set during World War II.<\/p>\n The broadcaster previously reassured: “The BBC would like to reassure fans that Call The Midwife<\/a> will remain at the heart of the BBC for years to come. As previously announced, there are two Christmas<\/a> specials, a new series, a film and prequel series, before a sixteenth series in due course. Call the Midwife isn’t going anywhere.”<\/p>\n Call The Midwife returns on Sunday 11 January at 8pm.<\/p>\n The opening episode of the eight-part series promises: “The Nonnatus team grow increasingly concerned for the welfare of four young children. Sister Catherine faces her first solo delivery, and the midwives attend a women’s<\/a> lib meeting.”<\/p>\n This comes after a two-part Call The Midwife special, airing tonight, Christmas Day at 8.15pm and Boxing<\/a> Day at 8.30pm.<\/p>\n The BBC previously teased: \u201cWhen senior members of the Nonnatus House staff head to Hong Kong on a mercy mission, the younger midwives are left to cope alone.<\/p>\n \u201cAs the Christmas action shifts between the sun-drenched Far East and a snowy East End, Sister Julienne suddenly finds herself excited about the Order\u2019s future.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter years of battling change, she decides to embrace it, work with it, and see what love can do.<\/p>\n \u201cThis change of energy reverberates throughout series 15.
