Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle has issued a major health update days after receiving a letter from the duchess.<\/p>\n

Thomas Markle was speaking to the Mail on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He said: “I have much to celebrate. I am doing well and would like to thank all the people from around the world who have sent well-wishes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m doing physiotherapy every day and have managed to sit on the side of the bed and even stood on my one remaining leg with the help of a nurse and a walking frame.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Markle said, \u201cThat was a wonderful Christmas present. There is a long way to go but I am so grateful to the wonderful doctors and nurses who are taking such good care of me.”<\/p>\n

Thomas Markle had his left lower leg amputated and the duchess reached out to him with a letter in hospital in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the GB News, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams says despite Meghan\u2019s letter to her father following his leg amputation, \u201cfallout has implied that she doesn’t want further contact.\u201d<\/p>\n

The royal expert made these remarks after Meghan’s spokesman confirmed that a letter had been delivered to Thomas through \u201creliable and trusted contacts\u201d after earlier efforts to contact him directly were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
