The Brown and Gold opened MAC play with a loss to Buffalo back on Dec. 20.<\/p>\n<p>LAST TIME OUT<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Broncos are coming off of a 94-57 win over Defiance College back on Dec. 22. WMU set season highs in points (94), made field goals (37), assists (20) and steals (13), while yielding season lows in points (57) and made field goals (19). Four players were in double-figures for the Brown and Gold, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jalen-griffith\/15593\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15593\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Griffith&#8217;s<\/a> 16 points. <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jayden-brewer\/15598\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15598\" target=\"_blank\">Jayden Brewer<\/a> added 15 points, <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/brady-swartz\/15594\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15594\" target=\"_blank\">Brady Swartz<\/a> notched 11 and <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/michael-sulaka\/15590\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15590\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Sulaka<\/a> netted a career-high 10 points for Western Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>BALANCED BRONCOS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAll 12 players who saw the floor for the Brown and Gold scored in the victory over Defiance, with seven different players netting at least eight points and four reaching double-figures. <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/junior-sileu\/15589\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15589\" target=\"_blank\">Junior Sileu<\/a> picked up his first collegiate points, going 3-for-3 from the field to collect six points. <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/michael-sulaka\/15590\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15590\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Sulaka<\/a> notched a career-high 10 points in the victory, making him the 10th different Bronco to have a double-digit scoring game this season. Four different players have scored at least 20 points in a game this season for Western Michigan, and WMU has had five different leading scorers through its first 13 games. Leading the charge with eight double-digit scoring games apiece are <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jayden-brewer\/15598\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15598\" target=\"_blank\">Jayden Brewer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jalen-griffith\/15593\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15593\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Griffith<\/a>, with Griffith having led the team in scoring seven times.<\/p>\n<p>THE GIVING SEASON<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAfter tying its season high with 18 assists in the MAC Opener against Buffalo on Dec. 20, Western Michigan set a new season high with 20 assists in the victory over Defiance. Nine different Broncos registered an assist, with three handing out three or more, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jalen-griffith\/15593\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15593\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Griffith<\/a> with six.<\/p>\n<p>GRIFF GETTING IT DONE<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jalen-griffith\/15593\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15593\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Griffith<\/a> netted 16 points in the victory over Defiance to lead Western Michigan in scoring for the seventh time this season. The junior has been in double-figures eight times in 2025-26 and has recorded five or more assists in six contests, including a career-high 10 to record the first double-double of his collegiate career in the win at SIUE on Dec. 6. Griffith leads WMU in both categories, ranking ninth in the MAC in scoring (16.0 PPG) and fourth in assists (4.7).<\/p>\n<p>LET JAYDEN BREW<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jayden-brewer\/15598\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15598\" target=\"_blank\">Jayden Brewer<\/a> was in double-figures for the eighth time this season in the win over Defiance, tallying 15 points. The FIU transfer has been a key addition for the Broncos this season, ranking second on the team and 17th in the conference in scoring at 13.5 points per game, and also leading the Brown and Gold and sitting sixth in the league in rebounding at 7.2 per contest. Brewer heads into Tuesday with 992 career points, eight shy of 1,000 for his collegiate career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DIALING LONG DISTANCE<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Broncos enter Tuesday having made at least one three-pointer in 468 straight games, dating back to the 2010-11 season. <a href=\"https:\/\/wmubroncos.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/brady-swartz\/15594\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15594\" target=\"_blank\">Brady Swartz<\/a> has been WMU&#8217;s top sharpshooter, hitting three-pointers at a 45.5 percent clip, the fourth-best mark in the MAC.<\/p>\n<p>SERIES HISTORY<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nTuesday will be the first of two regular season meetings between the Rockets and Broncos, with the rematch set for Feb. 11 in Kalamazoo. Toledo heads into Tuesday&#8217;s matchup with a 95-63 advantage in the all-time series and has won 14 consecutive meetings. Western Michigan&#8217;s most recent victory in the series was a 61-56 overtime triumph at Savage Arena on Feb. 21, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE ROCKETS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nToledo checks in at 6-6, with Tuesday night serving as its conference opener. Sonny Wilson, who led UT with 20 points in last season&#8217;s win over the Broncos, ranks fourth in the MAC at 17.2 points per game.
