{"id":210213,"date":"2025-12-29T21:06:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T21:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/210213\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T21:06:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T21:06:18","slug":"nvidia-finalizes-5-billion-purchase-of-intel-shares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/210213\/","title":{"rendered":"Nvidia Finalizes $5 Billion Purchase of Intel Shares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Nvidia<\/a>\u00a0has purchased $5 billion in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/homepage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Intel<\/a>\u00a0shares as part of a larger tech partnership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intel confirmed the purchase of 214.7 million shares in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intc.com\/filings-reports\/all-sec-filings\/content\/0000050863-25-000204\/intc-20251226.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">securities filing<\/a>\u00a0Monday (Dec. 29), concluding a deal first announced in September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/transactional\/nvidia-takes-5-billion-stake-intel-under-september-agreement-2025-12-29\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">report<\/a>\u00a0on the purchase by Reuters characterizes it as a significant lifeline for Intel, following years of missteps and costly production capacity expansions which sapped its finances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The announcement comes days after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Federal Trade Commission<\/a>\u00a0(FTC) announced that regulators had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/cpi-posts\/us-regulators-clear-nvidia-intel-technology-tie-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">cleared the way<\/a> for the planned investment, viewed as a major endorsement of Intel by the world\u2019s most valuable company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two companies are also launching a partnership centered around product development, with plans to collaborate on multiple generations of customized data center and personal computing products to \u201caccelerate applications and workloads across hyperscale, enterprise, and consumer markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nvidia also recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/nvidia-acquires-tech-and-talent-from-inference-chip-maker-groq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">acquired<\/a>\u00a0talent and tech from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/groq.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Groq<\/a>, a maker of custom-built inference chips. A company spokesperson framed the deal this way in a statement last week to PYMNTS: \u201cWe haven\u2019t acquired Groq. We\u2019ve taken a non-exclusive license to Groq\u2019s IP and have hired engineering talent from Groq\u2019s team to join us in our mission to provide world-leading accelerate computing technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Groq wrote on its blog post that with this agreement, the companies hope to expand access to high-performance, low-cost\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/why-inference-infrastructure-is-the-next-big-layer-in-the-gen-ai-stack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">inference<\/a>, a term for the stage in which a trained model processes new data and produces results. When a customer service chatbot replies to a query or an AI system analyzes a financial document, that is an example inference at work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhile training creates the model by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/enterprise-ai-shifts-focus-to-inference-as-production-deployments-scale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">processing vast datasets<\/a>\u00a0to learn patterns, inference applies that learned knowledge to perform specific tasks at scale,\u201d PYMNTS wrote earlier this year. \u201cAs enterprises deploy AI systems that manage thousands or millions of requests daily, inference becomes the dominant operational challenge and cost driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also this month, Nvidia\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/nvidia-bets-on-open-models-to-power-ai-agents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">introduced<\/a>\u00a0its Nemotron 3 family of open models designed to power transparent, efficient and specialized agent-centric artificial intelligence across industries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As reported here, developers and enterprises can access these models, associated data and tooling to create and customize AI agents for tasks that include coding and reasoning as well as complex workflow automation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/open-source-vs-proprietary-ai-which-should-businesses-choose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Open-source AI models<\/a>\u00a0are large pretrained neural networks whose weights and code are publicly available for download, inspection, modification and redistribution,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBy contrast with closed or proprietary models controlled by a single provider, open models enable developers, researchers and enterprises to adapt the model to specific needs, verify behavior, and integrate the technology into their systems without restrictive licensing.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nvidia\u00a0has purchased $5 billion in\u00a0Intel\u00a0shares as part of a larger tech partnership.
