Zack Snyder has been known for taking strolls down memory lane on social media with pictures from his DC superhero films, and his latest picture shows how Henry Cavill landed his role as Superman with the help of a classic suit. <\/p>\n

On Friday, the \u201cMan of Steel\u201d director posted a picture taken of Cavill during the final steps of the casting process, in which the actor wore arguably the most famous version of the Superman suit: the one worn by Christopher Reeve in the first \u201cSuperman\u201d film in 1978.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was undeniable,\u201d Snyder wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cEveryone agreed: Henry Cavill was Superman. That\u2019s where the journey began.\u201d <\/p>\n

Cavill would go on to play Superman in three films: \u201cMan of Steel,\u201d \u201cBatman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice\u201d and \u201cJustice League,\u201d along with a post-credit cameo in \u201cBlack Adam.\u201d Combined, the three films grossed more than $2.2 billion at the global box office.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for his fans, Cavill\u2019s tease of his return in \u201cBlack Adam\u201d did not come to pass, as the DC Universe was rebooted shortly after the film\u2019s release as Warner Bros. established the new DC Studios, consolidating all of the franchise\u2019s media under one roof. The new DC cinematic universe began with this year\u2019s \u201cSuperman,\u201d directed by James Gunn and with David Corenswet taking over as the Kryptonian hero.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy turn to wear the cape has passed,\u201d Cavill wrote upon his departure from playing Superman, \u201cbut what Superman stands for never will.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also wished James Gunn and Peter Safran well as they embarked on reshaping DC Studios as the co-CEOs and co-chairs. <\/p>\n
