ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (16-4) resumes action hosting the U.S. National Team Development Program in an exhibition match up at Yost Ice Arena on Saturday (Jan. 3). Puck drops at 7 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on B1G+.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Michigan finished the first semester with a 16-4 overall record and is holding steady at No. 1 in the USCHO poll. The Wolverines are also No. 1 in the NPI, the new “Pairwise” that will determine the NCAA Tournament field.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Wolverines will be without six members of their squad who are playing at World Juniors.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The U.S. and Canada are atop their group standings with undefeated records. Michael Hage<\/a> is in fourth place in scoring at the tournament with two goals and four assists for Canada, while Jack Ivankovic<\/a> is 1-0 in goal. Will Horcoff<\/a> has two points for the U.S., while Cole McKinney<\/a> has one assist. Defensemen Asher Barnett<\/a> and Dakoda Rh\u00e9aume-Mullen<\/a> are scoreless.<\/p>\n \u2022 Horcoff, Hage and Hughes all have 28 points in 20 games to lead the Wolverines in scoring. With the three away, the current leader is Jayden Perron<\/a> with 18 points on six goals and 12 assists. Adam Valentini<\/a> adds 17 points, Josh Eernisse<\/a> has 15 points, including nine goals, and Ben Robertson<\/a> has 14 points.<\/p>\n \u2022 Stephen Peck<\/a> and Julian Molinaro<\/a> are options for Michigan in goal with Ivankovic at World Juniors. Peck spent last season with Muskegon in the USHL, posting a 19-6-5 record. Molinaro transferred in from Northern Michigan after going 27-16-2 with Calgary in the AJHL.<\/p>\n \u2022 Michigan ranks fifth nationally in blocked shots with 63 to its credit. Rh\u00e9aume-Mullen leads the way with 32, followed by Robertson with 29, Tyler Duke<\/a> with 25 and Luca Fantilli<\/a> and Drew Schock<\/a> with 22 apiece.<\/p>\n \u2022 Michigan has the best scoring offense in the nation, averaging 4.80 goals per game and boasts the fifth-best scoring defense to culminate in the nation’s top-ranked scoring margin of 2.75 goals per game.<\/p>\n \u2022 Michigan’s power-play unit is converting at 30.5 percent (25-for-82) to rank third nationally.
