COLUMBUS,Ohio \u2013 The No. 4 Penn State women\u2019s ice hockey team was handed its second loss of the season on Friday evening, falling to second-ranked Ohio State 5-1.<\/p>\n
HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n
Four minutes into the game Ohio State took a 1-0 lead with an off angle shot by Sloane Matthews that got by Katie DeSa<\/a>. GOALTENDERS<\/p>\n Senior goaltender Katie DeSa<\/a> made 28 saves and allowed five goals in the first two periods. Freshman goaltender Maddy Campbell<\/a> started the third period, making 12 saves. STATS AND NOTES<\/p>\n Maddy Christian<\/a> has a point in her last three games after scoring the lone goal for PSU. \n16 seconds into the second period Joy Dunne scored to double Ohio State\u2019s lead.
\nThree minutes later, OSU caught the Nittany Lions on a change and Maxine Cimoroni scored behind PSU\u2019s defense.
\nNear the halfway mark of the second period, Ohio State\u2019s Hilda Svensson went down shorthanded in transition and beat Katie DeSa<\/a> to push the lead to 4-0.
\n23 seconds later on the power play, Leah Stecker<\/a> created a turnover in the neutral zone and found Maddy Christian<\/a> going to the net and she scored on her backhand.
\nWith just over five minutes to go in the second, OSU picked up a rebound in their defensive zone and went on the offensive, Maxine Cimoroni took a shot through traffic that found its way past Katie DeSa<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\nOhio State goaltender Hailey Macleod made 23 saves while allowing one goal.<\/p>\n
\nLeah Stecker<\/a> picked up her eighth assist of the season.
\nMatilde Fantin<\/a> picked her second point in as many games with an assist on Christian\u2019s goal.
\nPSU falls to 2-10-1 against the Buckeyes in the head-to-head record.
\nFive goals is the most Penn State has given up this season.<\/p>\n
