Okay. If this were to be any other musician I\u2019d probably be like what the actual fuck, but in this case, maybe it\u2019s kind of alright? After all, A.I. is a tool and tools are meant to be utilized, are they not? Black Sabbath<\/a> bassist Geezer Butler<\/a> sure does think so, since he\u2019s apparently been using A.I. in a way that we would DEFINITELY roust other people for\u2014songwriting.<\/p>\n

Butler spoke on how he\u2019s made use of artificial intelligence when he was a guest at the 2025 Steel City Con, which took place from December 5-7, 2025 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. When speaking on whether or not he\u2019s got more solo stuff in the works, he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth.net<\/a>):<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, gosh. I\u2019ve got tons of stuff. Since we finished the last Sabbath show [at \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019 in July 2025], I\u2019ve just been going through all the stuff that I\u2019ve written since the \u201980s onwards and updating everything. And what held me back before, I didn\u2019t have a singer when I\u2019m at home, but A.I. [artificial intelligence] came along. [Laughs] So all my songs now, I\u2019ve updated them all and I\u2019m using an A.I. singer to bring all the lyrics out. So now I can take it to singers that I\u2019m gonna be working with and go, \u2018This is what I want on the album,\u2019 so they\u2019ve got a better idea. Before I was just, like, playing them a bass riff or something, going, \u2018Can you sing to this?\u2019 And they\u2019d be going, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 [Laughs] But it\u2019s so much better now, \u2019cause you can sit in your studio and do everything on A.I. and then take it to proper musicians and let them take over. It\u2019s really helped me. A lot of people think it\u2019s cheating.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be honest Geezer\u2014it is cheating. But sometimes, that\u2019s just what you gotta do. When he elaborated more on what his specific songwriting process is, he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Sabbath \u2014 Sabbath, we\u2019d sit down in a room together and just jam and jam and jam until somebody came up with something that we could work with. Once we had a good riff to write to, we\u2019d finish the music part of it. Ozzy would sing his vocal line, then I\u2019d write the lyrics. So it mainly came from jamming.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t really jam with a machine, so let\u2019s just hope that whatever Geezer and his A.I. confidant have been writing actually sounds good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Okay.
