The line-up of contestants for the 21st\u00a0series of\u00a0Taskmaster<\/a>\u00a0has been announced \u2013 check it out below.<\/p>\n

At the climax of the second part of the\u00a0BAFTA<\/a>-winning\u00a0Channel 4<\/a>\u00a0show\u2019s\u00a0New Year Treat<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday night (December 3), the five names that will be competing in the next full series of\u00a0the contest were unveiled.<\/p>\n

Among them are the\u00a0Pakistani-American\u00a0comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani, known for co-writing and staring in the acclaimed 2017 romcom\u00a0The Big Sick<\/a>, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. A successful stand-up, he has also appeared in\u00a0Silicon Valley,\u00a0Portlandia,\u00a0The Boys<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Eternals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Armando Iannucci is also on the\u00a0line-up. The\u00a0Scottish satirist is best known as the creator of political comedies\u00a0The Thick\u00a0Of\u00a0It<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Veep<\/a>, as well as directing\u00a0In\u00a0The\u00a0Loop,\u00a0The Death\u00a0Of\u00a0Stalin\u00a0and\u00a0The Personal History\u00a0Of\u00a0David Copperfield.\u00a0Iannucci also co-created\u00a0The Day Today\u00a0with\u00a0Chris Morris<\/a>,\u00a0as well as\u00a0Steve Coogan<\/a>\u2019s Alan Partridge.<\/p>\n

The line-up is completed by Joanna Page, the Welsh\u00a0actress\u00a0who memorably portrayed Stacey in the sitcom\u00a0Gavin & Stacey<\/a>, TV\u00a0presenter\u00a0and comedian Joel Dommett, and stand-up and\u00a0Alma\u2019s Not Normal\u00a0star Amy Gledhill.<\/p>\n

Taskmaster\u00a0debuted on television in 2015, and\u00a0its most recent series concluded in November<\/a>, with Maisie Adam coming out victorious over her fellow contestants Sanjeev Bhaskar, Reece Shearsmith, Phil Ellis and Ania Magliano.<\/p>\n

Since then, a\u00a0Champion\u00a0Of\u00a0Champions\u00a0episode aired over Christmas, with Adam returning alongside Sam Campbell, John Robins, Andy Zaltzman and Mathew Baynton, while the\u00a0New Year Treat\u00a0double-episode saw non-comedians compete\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Big Zuu<\/a>, Jill Scott, Rose Ayling-Ellis,\u00a0Sam\u00a0Ryder<\/a>\u00a0and Susie Dent.<\/p>\n

Taskmaster\u00a0was first conceived by\u00a0Alex Horne<\/a>\u00a0as\u00a0a concept for an Edinburgh Fringe show in 2010<\/a>, before being adapted for TV in 2015, when it debuted on Dave with host Greg Davies taking on the role of the taskmaster. After the ninth series in 2019, the show was acquired by Channel 4, where it continues to run.<\/p>\n
