After two years of destabilisation due to industry strikes, the US road to the Oscars is back in full swing with today’s Critics Choice Awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

In their 31st year, the annual awards \u2014 led by Warner Bros, soon to be acquired by Netflix<\/a> \u2014 are historically known to be the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.<\/p>\n

Ryan Coogler’s gothic vampire horror Sinners<\/a> is the hot favourite, taking out the most nominations of any film with 18 nods, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan.<\/p>\n

One Battle After Another<\/a>, Paul Thomas Anderson’s revolutionary road tale, is not far behind with 14 nominations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Multiple Australians are up for awards today including Rose Byrne for Best Actress, Joel Edgerton for Best Actor and Jacob Elordi for Best Supporting Actor. Sarah Snook has already taken out a statue for her performance on thriller limited series All Her Fault.<\/p>\n

The Critics Choice Awards also wrap up the gongs for the 2025\/26 television season, with Netflix limited series Adolescence already scooping up multiple wins following on from its stellar Emmys run in September<\/a>.<\/p>\n
