One of the biggest and easiest-to-binge crime dramas of the decade \u2014 and some might even say of all time \u2014 is going to have a shot at redemption on a new streaming service. Netflix has announced that both seasons of Prodigal Son<\/a> will begin streaming on the platform on January 9. The show\u2019s current home is HBO Max<\/a>, but it\u2019s unclear at this time if it will leave Warner Bros.<\/a>‘ primary streaming service at the same time that it arrives on Netflix. Prodigal Son was canceled back in 2021, mere days before the airing of its Season 2 finale.<\/p>\n

Prodigal Son follows a gifted criminal profiler who juggles his work for the NYPD, a fragile family relationship, and the consequences of having a serial killer father. The show is perfect for Dexter<\/a> fans, who love the serial killer trope, though there are plenty of differences between Prodigal Son and Michael C. Hall<\/a>\u2019s unconventional crime thriller series. Both seasons of Prodigal Son were panned by critics, but the show found a massive audience \u2014 one that\u2019s sure to expand when it arrives on Netflix in just a few days. It has the potential to become one of Netflix\u2019s biggest new arrivals of the year.<\/p>\n

Prodigal Son was written and created for TV by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver. The show stars Michael Sheen<\/a> as Dr. Martin Whitly, Tom Payne as Malcolm Bright, Lou Diamond Phillips<\/a> as Gil Arroyo, Halston Sage as Ainsley Whitly, Aurora Perrineau as Dani Powell, Frank Harts as JT Tarmlel, Keiko Agena as Dr. Edrisa Tanaka, and Bellamy Young as Jessica Whitly. Meagan Good (Shazam! Fury of the Gods<\/a>) also has a small role in Prodigal Son.<\/p>\n

What Else Is Streaming on Netflix Right Now?<\/p>\n

The most popular show on Netflix right now is the fifth and final season of Stranger Things<\/a>, which is sitting comfortably at the top of streaming charts after airing its series finale. Harlan Coben<\/a>\u2019s new series, Run Away, is trailing behind Stranger Things in the #2 spot on Netflix’s global streaming charts. One of the most popular movies on Netflix right now is Wake Up Dead Man<\/a>, the third Knives Out movie in Rian Johnson<\/a>\u2019s hit murder-mystery trilogy. KPop Demon Hunters<\/a>, the biggest Netflix movie ever, is also still hanging around the top 10.<\/p>\n
