{"id":223774,"date":"2026-01-06T16:42:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T16:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/223774\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T16:42:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T16:42:10","slug":"wake-forest-battles-miami-in-midweek-showdown-at-ljvm-coliseum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/223774\/","title":{"rendered":"Wake Forest Battles Miami in Midweek Showdown at LJVM Coliseum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. &#8211; Coming off a hard fought first ACC win of the season, the Wake Forest men&#8217;s basketball team will host Miami on Wednesday at LJVM Coliseum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will air nationwide on ESPNU.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last Time Out <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nBehind a clutch performance from senior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/godeacs.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/nate-calmese\/8855\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8855\" target=\"_blank\">Nate Calmese<\/a>, which included the go-ahead three-pointer with 6.5 seconds left, the Demon Deacons defeated Virginia Tech (12-3, 1-1 ACC) 81-78 on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Gilbert, Ariz., native finished the game with a season-high 25 points while shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. Calmese also led the Demon Deacons with seven assists to go along with three rebounds and a steal.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore guard <a href=\"https:\/\/godeacs.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/juke-harris\/8847\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8847\" target=\"_blank\">Juke Harris<\/a> recorded 15 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Meanwhile, senior forward <a href=\"https:\/\/godeacs.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/tre-von-spillers\/8851\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8851\" target=\"_blank\">Tre&#8217;Von Spillers<\/a> totaled 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, as well as five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.<\/p>\n<p>Junior forward <a href=\"https:\/\/godeacs.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/cooper-schwieger\/8853\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8853\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Schwieger<\/a> tallied a season-high eight points while connecting on both of his three-point attempts. The Overland Park, Kan., native also added five rebounds, including a team-high three offensive rebounds, and an assist against the Hokies.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, the Demon Deacons forced Virginia Tech into a season-high 19 turnovers, including 14 in the first half, leading to 19 points off turnovers and 15 fastbreak points.<\/p>\n<p>Defend Home Court\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWake Forest men&#8217;s basketball has built one of college basketball&#8217;s premier home court advantages over the last five seasons, as the Demon Deacons have collected a 69-12 record at LJVM Coliseum since
