Gen Z is a tough one to pin down. Despite numerous attempts to cast them as a detached bunch, talk to any one of them, really, and you\u2019ll likely get a different story. The first cohort to come of age in a world marked by digital hyper-connectivity, climate anxiety and an unrelenting stream of political upheaval<\/a>, a closer look can reveal a cohort shaped by complexity and a willingness to take things into their own hands.<\/p>\n A new photo exhibition at Photo Elys\u00e9e<\/a> in Lausanne, Switzerland spotlights offers an intimate look into this generation. Now on view through February 1, Gen Z: Shaping a New Gaze<\/a> gathers an international lineup of 66 artist who, in their own words, explore what it means to belong in a world in-flux.\n<\/p>\n Spanning a constellation of artistic approaches and storytelling modes, the exhibition traces the conditions and sentiments that sculpt Gen Z\u2019s worldview: challenging trivial social norms while proposing new ones, shifting understandings of body and gender, the importance of chosen family and means of navigating overlapping identities.
