\n\tRyan Gosling<\/a> will make a splash with the forthcoming Star Wars<\/a>: Starfighter.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirector Shawn Levy<\/a> posted a photo to Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday of the actor in costume, offering the first look from the film\u2019s shoot. Gosling and co-star Flynn Gray are seen posing with the Mediterranean Sea behind them.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSomewhere in the Mediterranean Sea #Starfighter,\u201d Levy captioned the image.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney<\/a> is set to release the film on May 28, 2027, after announcing the date<\/a> earlier this year at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. Plot details have not been revealed, but the stand-alone movie is set roughly five years after the events of 2019\u2019s\u00a0Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was the last title from the franchise to hit theaters. Director Jon Favreau\u2019s The Mandalorian & Grogu is set for theatrical release on May 22, 2026, as a spinoff to the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. <\/p>\n

\n\tMatt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams round out the cast<\/a> for Star Wars: Starfighter.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe reality is that this script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters,\u201d Gosling told the crowd at the April fan event. \u201cIt\u2019s filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJonathan Tropper penned the script for the feature that Levy has been developing since 2022. Levy and Kathleen Kennedy serve as producers.<\/p>\n

\n\tLevy\u2019s recent directorial credits include Disney\u2019s smash hit Deadpool & Wolverine<\/a> and Netflix\u2019s The Adam Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tGosling can be seen next year as the lead in Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 Project Hail Mary<\/a>.<\/p>\n
