{"id":227037,"date":"2026-01-08T09:59:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T09:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/227037\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T09:59:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T09:59:13","slug":"disney-plans-new-features-for-ai-native-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/227037\/","title":{"rendered":"Disney+ Plans New Features for &#8220;AI Native Generation&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDisney wants a bigger slice of the mobile video business: The entertainment giant is planning to roll out a new vertical video product on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/disney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney_1\" data-tag=\"disney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney+<\/a> over the next year that will feature short-form content from the company\u2019s entertainment portfolio, as well as news and sports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe push into vertical video comes after ESPN entered the space with \u201cverts\u201d in its ESPN app, essentially creating a new sports highlight experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe company announced the product enhancements at an event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe want to bring the best of what makes our live products great, from ESPN to ABC News to Hulu Plus Live TV, all into this unified environment,\u201d said Erin Teague, executive VP of product management, onstage at the event, which was streamed online. \u201cWe\u2019re also thinking about mobile-first experiences. We know that mobile is an incredible opportunity to turn Disney+ into a true daily destination for fans, so that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re going to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cOver the next year, we\u2019re introducing vertical video experiences on Disney+, think all of the short form Disney content you want all in one unified app,\u201d she added. \u201cOver time, we\u2019ll evolve these experiences as we explore applications for a variety of formats, categories and content types for a dynamic feed of just what you\u2019re interested in, from sports, news and entertainment, refreshed in real time based on your last visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn addition to the vertical video push, executives from the company leaned into technology and artificial intelligence during the presentation, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ai-3\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ai-3_1\" data-tag=\"ai-3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI<\/a>-powered ad planning tools, and more notably an AI video generation tool meant to allow advertisers quickly develop and deploy CTV-ready ad spots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThis isn\u2019t just an AI model creating a clip,\u201d said Disney executive VO Tony Donohoe, in a demo of the product. \u201cThe magic is the work we\u2019re doing under the hood and bringing Disney\u2019s blend of technical, creative and operational expertise as we build a capability with human oversight and imagination, we\u2019re orchestrating multiple models working together in a single agentic workflow. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cSo there\u2019s a model driving the script, creating the storyboards, there\u2019s another one driving the audio and the music and then generating the video, and it all takes into account your vision for mood, tone, style, all your oversight on ours and all while protecting IP, accounting for guardrails and compliance requirements,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut then to truly delight you, we enable you to put the right creative in front of the right viewer at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAI was a recurring theme of the presentation, which came just weeks after Disney struck a landmark deal with bring many of its characters and worlds to OpenAI\u2019s Sora, with plans to eventually bring some of that user-prompted content to Disney+.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cTo us, AI is an accelerator. It\u2019s an amplifier,\u201d Teague said. \u201cIt\u2019s why collaborations with partners like OpenAI are absolutely crucial. We want to empower a new generation of fandom that is more interactive and immersive, while also respecting human creativity and protecting user safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIndeed, Teague framed interactivity as a key piece of reaching Gen Alpha.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThey are the first AI native generation, and the interesting thing is, they don\u2019t see stories as things that happen to them. Instead, they expect more agency,\u201d she said. \u201cThey expect to interact with entertainment. Fans don\u2019t just watch anymore. They react and research and remix. A dad and his daughter aren\u2019t just streaming a Marvel show. They\u2019re pausing to debate theories.
