The actor opened up about the cut in question during an interview with Allure<\/a>, published on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hairstylist had a glass of wine and I really should have known better,\u201d she said, joking that \u201cMaybe he\u2019d thought I\u2019d be aerodynamic when I was chasing perps. I have no idea.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWe went real short \u2014 shorter than anticipated,\u201d Hargitay said. \u201cI almost got fired.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite the hubbub at the time, the actor says she now sees the cut as \u201ceasy, cool, and cop-like.\u201d <\/p>\n

Keri Russell<\/a> is yet another actor who knows how a haircut can impact a person\u2019s trajectory \u2015 and popularity \u2015 on a show. <\/p>\n

She famously cut her hair for her hit show, \u201cFelicity,\u201d after creator J.J. Abrams floated the idea. <\/p>\n

\u201cJ.J. called me over the summer,\u201d Russell said in a 2017 interview with W Magazine<\/a>. \u201cWe had shot the first season of Felicity, and he said, \u2018We\u2019re coming up with the storylines for next year. We have this idea that the boyfriend breaks up with you, and then like college girls go \u2015 you would go and cut your hair because of this big breakup. Would you be willing to do that?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

Russell said she agreed to make the change, which was then met with \u201ccrazy backlash.\u201d <\/p>\n
