\nCOLLEGE PARK, MD —\u00a0\u00a0The 8th-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team (16-1, 4-1 B1G) will host No. 19 Ohio State (14-2, 4-1) Sunday, Jan. 11 in a 4 p.m. matchup at the XFINITY Center. Sunday’s game is the Terps’ annual BLACK OUT game with a Dark Side of the Shell – Star Wars theme. For tickets, click here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first 500 fans at Sunday’s game will receive a free T-shirt. Members Testudo’s Kids Club are invited to receive free admission to the game and attend a pregame party. The Terrapins will also sign autographs on the concourse after the game.<\/p>\n

What’s UP<\/p>\n


\n\tMaryland is coming off an 88-41 win at Rutgers Thursday. The Terps went 16-25 from outside the arc. Yarden Garzon<\/a> went 6-6 from three-point range to lead the way with 18 points and 9 assists. Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu<\/a> picked up her second straight double-double with 10 points, 12 boards. Freshmen Addi Mack<\/a> and Rainey Welson<\/a> and junior Oluchi Okananwa<\/a> also scored in double figures.
\n\t <\/p>\n

The Terrapins are No. 3 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten in rebounding margin (+15.5). The Terps are 10th in the country in scoring (87.6 ppg), fifth in scoring margin (+32.8) and No.10 in free throws made per game (17.53).<\/p>\n

\n\tYarden Garzon<\/a> is leading the Big Ten and No. 11 in the country in threes made (48). Oluchi Okananwa<\/a> and Saylor Poffenbarger<\/a> are Nos. 4 and 8 in the Big Ten in steals with 37 and 32.\u00a0

Maryland is ranked No. 8\u00a0in the Associated Press poll released Jan. 5\u00a0and\u00a0in the USA Today Sports WBB Coaches Poll released Jan. 6.<\/p>\n

\n\tHead coach Brenda Frese<\/a> and her staff signed two transfers in All-Big Ten honoree Yarden Garzon<\/a> (Indiana) and 2025 ACC Tournament Most Outstanding Player Oluchi Okananwa<\/a> (Duke). The Terrapins also welcome freshmen Lea Bartelme<\/a>, Addi Mack<\/a>, Rainey Welson<\/a>, Nicole Fritea<\/a> and Marya Boiko<\/a> to the roster.
\n\tMaryland will play six teams ranked in the AP preseason poll – No. 3 UCLA, No. 13 Michigan, No. 18 USC, No. 21 Iowa, No. 23 Michigan State and No. 24 Kentucky. The Terps will also play six teams receiving votes in Washington, Ohio State, Princeton, Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska.
\n\tMaryland women’s basketball is its 55th season and owns a record of 1,166-473\u00a0(.711). The Terrapins are No. 11 all-time in NCAA Division I history in winning percentage and No. 9 in all-time victories. <\/p>\n
