Following Sunday&#8217;s game, Minnesota will look ahead to face No. 4 UCLA on Wednesday.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMinnesota earned its second Big Ten win Wednesday, defeating Northwestern 79-47. The Gophers shot 50% as a team and did not commit a turnover until midway through the third quarter.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tori-mckinney\/23295\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23295\" target=\"_blank\">Tori McKinney<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/brylee-glenn\/23301\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23301\" target=\"_blank\">Brylee Glenn<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/sophie-hart\/23279\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23279\" target=\"_blank\">Sophie Hart<\/a> combined for 40 points Wednesday against the Wildcats. McKinney recorded her highest-scoring game of the season with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting, along with six rebounds.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMinnesota is ranked No. 14 in the NET and is one of nine Big Ten teams in the top 25.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Gophers rank eighth nationally and third in the Big Ten in assist-to-turnover ratio (257 assists, 157 turnovers).&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/grace-grocholski\/23290\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23290\" target=\"_blank\">Grace Grocholski<\/a> leads Minnesota with 197 points and 13.1 points per game. Grocholski is shooting 52.9% from the field, 48% from beyond the arc, and 93.8% from the line. She&#8217;s second overall on the Gophers&#8217; roster with 43 assists.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/mara-braun\/23277\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23277\" target=\"_blank\">Mara Braun<\/a> and Grocholski each reached 1,000 career points this season. With those milestones, Minnesota now has three active 1,000-point scorers, including <a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/amaya-battle\/23288\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23288\" target=\"_blank\">Amaya Battle<\/a>. Glenn is nearing the mark with 906 career points.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBattle has recorded 537 career assists, ranking fourth in Minnesota history. She needs eight more to surpass Shayne Mullaney (544) for third on the program&#8217;s career assists list.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u00a0&#13;<\/p>\n<p>GOLDEN GOPHER DEFENSE<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tMinnesota leads the nation with 11 games holding opponents to 50 points or fewer.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe maroon and gold defense ranks second nationally and first in the Big Ten in fewest turnovers per game (10.5) and first nationally and in the conference in scoring defense (51.1 points per game).&#13;<\/p>\n<p>GOPHERS IN THE RANKINGS<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tGrocholski ranks seventh nationally and second in the Big Ten in three-point percentage, shooting 48% with 36 made 3-pointers this season. She also ranks seventh in the Big Ten in 3-pointers per game, averaging 2.4. Against No. 7 Maryland, Grocholski knocked down a career-high nine 3-pointers on her way to a career-best 31 points, tying the program mark for the second-most 3-pointers made in a game by a Gopher.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBattle ranks ninth in the Big Ten in rebounds per game at 7.5. She leads Minnesota with 113 total rebounds and has increased her per-game average from 5.1 last season to 7.5 this year.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>SERIES HISTORY<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSouthern California leads the all-time series 2-1, dating back to 1981. Minnesota&#8217;s lone win came in 2003 at the Junkanoo Jam, when the Gophers defeated the Trojans 84-61 in the Bahamas.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSouthern California defeated Minnesota 82-69 last season in Los Angeles. <a href=\"https:\/\/gophersports.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/sophie-hart\/23279\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"23279\" target=\"_blank\">Sophie Hart<\/a> finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, while McKinney added 14 points.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE TROJANS<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe 2025-26 season marks the fifth season under head coach Lindsay Gottlieb.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Trojans are 10-5 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play this season and are looking to bounce back after two straight losses to Oregon (71-66) and No. 4 UCLA (80-46).&#13;<br \/>\n\tFreshman Jazzy Davidson leads the Trojans in points per game (16.3) and minutes played, averaging 33:04.
