ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan women’s gymnastics team broke the program balance beam record en route to a Sprouts Collegiate Quad victory with a 197.225 on Saturday evening (Jan. 10) at the Maverik Center.<\/p>\n

The Wolverines scored a program-best 49.650 on the beam in the final rotation of the night behind three 9.950s, besting its 49.625 in the 2023 campaign. Freshman Quincy Walters<\/a>, sophomore Ava Jordan<\/a> and junior Kayli Boozer<\/a> shared the beam title with career-high 9.950s, while Carly Bauman<\/a> recorded a 9.925 to tie for fourth overall.<\/p>\n

Michigan recorded nine stuck landings on the night, with three on uneven bars from Lily Clapper<\/a>, Sophia Diaz<\/a> and Sophie Parenti<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Walters came up big in her collegiate debut, placing second on the floor with a 9.875, and Diaz placed second on the uneven bars with a career-best 9.925. Graduate student Reyna Guggino<\/a> returned to the vault lineup after missing the 2025 season due to injury and notched a 9.825 in the four spot.<\/p>\n

Michigan sat in second place following the opening rotation on floor exercise, as Walters led with a 9.875 in her collegiate debut and a stuck landing on her opening pass. Diaz and Bauman notched matching 9.850s and Audrey Sanger<\/a> rounded out the first rotation with a 9.800. Cal led the field as it scored a 49.425 on uneven bars, with U-M scoring a 49.150 in the first rotation.<\/p>\n

Guggino scored a 9.825 in the four spot on vault in the second rotation, while Jahzara Ranger<\/a> followed with a team-high 9.850. Diaz finished the rotation with a 9.825 as Michigan remained in second behind Cal with a running score of 98.150 at the halfway point.<\/p>\n

The uneven bars squad showed out and overtook Cal in the third rotation with a 49.425 team score. Michigan built on its opening 9.825 from Jordan as Clapper made her bars debut with a stuck landing and a 9.850 and Diaz notched a career-high 9.925 in the third spot.<\/p>\n

Freshman Myli Lew<\/a> went 9.875 in her collegiate debut and Parenti tied a career-best 9.850 with another stick for the Maize and Blue. Bauman closed out the rotation with a 9.925 as Michigan took the lead and a running score of 147.575 into the final rotation. Cal sat in second with a 147.350, Michigan State was in third with a 147.250 and Kentucky remained in fourth with a 146.375.<\/p>\n

Michigan finished the meet on beam and put together a program-best performance, scoring a 49.650 to capture its second straight Sprouts Collegiate Quad victory. U-M posted back-to-back 9.950s from Walters and Jordan in the second and third spots, and Ranger followed it up with a 9.875. Boozer recorded the third 9.950 of the rotation and Bauman closed out the meet with a 9.925 to secure U-M the highest beam score nationally after two weeks of competition.<\/p>\n

The Wolverines earned the victory, Cal finished second, Michigan State followed and Kentucky placed fourth overall.<\/p>\n

Michigan opens Big Ten Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 17, when it travels to Minneapolis for a 4 p.m. CT meet against Minnesota.
