Cybersecurity has entered a new phase, one defined less by firewalls and more by speed, scale and decision-making under pressure. That shift was at the center of a studio interview with Itai Tevet, CEO of Intezer<\/a>, whose company develops AI-driven tools to help security teams cope with an explosion of digital threats. \u201cCybersecurity today is no longer just about stopping attacks,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cIt\u2019s about speed, scale and smart decision-making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Intezer works with some of the world\u2019s most targeted organizations, primarily large enterprises in the United States and globally. These organizations are not short on technology, Tevet said\u2014but they are critically short on people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the most basic terms, we\u2019re solving the talent shortage in cybersecurity,\u201d Tevet explained. \u201cThere are so many cyber threats and alerts that it\u2019s overwhelming and there simply aren\u2019t enough people to handle this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scale of the problem is stark. According to Tevet, a typical large enterprise may face around 1,000 security alerts every single day. With limited staff, security teams are forced to triage aggressively.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn reality, organizations end up looking at only the highest-severity alerts\u2014maybe 30% of what they receive,\u201d he said. \u201cThe rest are essentially ignored, not because they\u2019re safe, but because there\u2019s no capacity.\u201d That gap, he warned, creates fertile ground for attackers.<\/p>\n

Intezer\u2019s own evolution mirrors the broader changes in the industry. Founded about seven years ago by veterans of Israel\u2019s military cyber units, the company initially focused on tools designed to help individual analysts investigate threats more effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe built something we wanted to use ourselves,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cTools for people who actually investigate cyber alerts.\u201d While analysts embraced the technology, executives did not always see it as a strategic investment.\u201cIt was a point solution,\u201d he said. \u201cOrganizations don\u2019t usually buy products just to improve day-to-day analyst workflows.\u201d<\/p>\n

About three years ago, the company made a decisive pivot: instead of helping analysts work faster, Intezer focused on offloading the investigative work altogether. \u201cThat was the breakthrough,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cNot assisting the analyst, but removing the burden.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the heart of Intezer\u2019s platform is what Tevet describes as \u201cforensic AI\u201d, an approach that differs from systems that simply feed alerts into generic AI models.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink of it as giving AI a full forensic lab,\u201d he said. \u201cHistorical context, fingerprints, behavioral data, the same tools a human investigator would use.\u201d This context, he said, is essential in a field where errors can have serious consequences. \u201cIn cybersecurity, trust requires something almost impossible,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cYou can\u2019t make mistakes.\u201d The payoff, he added, is dramatic noise reduction. Customers using Intezer\u2019s platform typically need to review only 2% to 4% of alerts that previously required human attention.<\/p>\n

Despite widespread concerns about AI replacing jobs, Tevet framed Intezer\u2019s technology as a way to bring security operations back in-house. \u201cMost large organizations already outsource alert investigation to managed service providers,\u201d he said. \u201cWe allow them to keep that work internal but offload it to technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

The goal, he emphasized, is not to eliminate security professionals but to free them from repetitive, exhausting tasks. \u201cThis work is overwhelming,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s outsourced in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence, Tevet noted, is transforming not only defense but offense. \u201cThe elephant in the room is AI,\u201d he said. \u201cAttackers are using it too, mostly to scale what already worked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phishing emails are one example. Once easy to spot, they are now increasingly personalized and convincing.\u201cAI solved the talent shortage problem for attackers as well,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cNot just for defenders.\u201d The result is an arms race driven by scale rather than novelty. \u201cIt\u2019s an order of magnitude bigger,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s chilling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Intezer\u2019s focus on large enterprises reflects where the pressure is most intense. These organizations are attacked more frequently and at greater scale, despite having more resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re targeted the most,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cAnd the complexity they operate under makes everything harder.\u201d Winning their trust, he added, requires deep integration and near-zero tolerance for error. \u201cYou\u2019re inside their systems,\u201d he said. \u201cTrust in cybersecurity is incredibly intimate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Advances in AI infrastructure are accelerating the pace on both sides of the cyber divide.\u201cAI is a tool,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cIt can be used for good or for bad.\u201d As computing power grows, so does the speed of the arms race.\u201cThere\u2019s no pause button,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Asked about Israel, Tevet described a noticeable increase in cyber activity since Oct. 7, alongside the physical conflict. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen a worldwide campaign against Israel and its assets,\u201d he said, pointing to a rise in state-sponsored attacks and coordinated digital disruption. \u201cIt\u2019s a form of digital terror,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Tevet offered a blunt assessment for organizations still relying on traditional approaches. \u201cIf you don\u2019t adopt AI in your security operations, you\u2019re already behind,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the years ahead will be very difficult.\u201d For a problem that plagued cybersecurity teams for decades, AI may finally offer a path forward\u2014but only for those willing to adapt. \u201cThis was a two-decade-old challenge that seemed unsolvable,\u201d Tevet said. \u201cNow, with AI, there\u2019s finally a way to address it.\u201d<\/p>\n
