Trump told the executives that they would be dealing directly with the U.S., rather than the Venezuelan government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">ConocoPhillips CEO Ryan Lance told Trump that his company was still owed $12 billion and that the U.S. government has the chance to restore what\u2019s been lost, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trump, in turn, said ConocoPhillips would get much of its money back, but the U.S. would be starting with a clean slate, the news outlet reported. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe\u2019re not going to look at what people lost in the past because that was their fault,\u201d Trump told Lance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
