\n\tEJAE delivered an emotional speech as she accepted the award for Best Original Song, Motion Picture, at the 2026 Golden Globes<\/a>. EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, and 24Ido took the stage to receive the trophy for the KPop Demon Hunters hit \u201cGolden.\u201dThe win makes EJAE the first Korean-American to be awarded at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfill one dream: to become a K-pop idol. I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn\u2019t good enough, so I leaned on songs and music to get through it,\u201d EJAE said onstage. \u201cNow, I\u2019m here as a singer and a songwriter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued: \u201cIt\u2019s a dream come true to be part of a song that is helping other girls, other boys, and everyone of all ages to get through hardship and accept themselves. So thank you, Golden Globes, for accepting my voice and our voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSonnenblic also shared a thank you to Netflix and Sony, as well as their teams. \u201cThis award goes to the people who have had their doors closed on them. I can confidently say that rejection is redirection. Never give up, it\u2019s never too late to shine like you\u2019re born to be,\u201d she concluded, referencing the lyrics of \u201cGolden.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGolden\u201d appeared in the Best Original Song \u2014 Motion Picture category alongside \u201cDream as One\u201d from Avatar: Fire and Ash, written by Miley Cyrus, Simon Franglen, Mark Ronson, and Andrew Wyatt; \u201cI Lied to You\u201d from Sinners, written by Ludwig G\u00f6ransson and Raphael Saadiq; \u201cTrain Dreams\u201d from Train Dreams, written by Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner; and \u201cNo Place LIke Home\u201d and \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d from Wicked: For Good, both written by Stephen Schwartz.<\/p>\n

\n\tEJAE performs \u201cGolden\u201d alongside Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami as the singing voices of the fictional act HUNTR\/X in KPop Demon Hunters<\/a>. \u201cI really resonated with Rumi,\u201d EJAE told Rolling Stone<\/a> about her character last year. \u201cShe\u2019s such a perfectionist and trying to hide her shame, hide her flaws. And that\u2019s a huge part of when you\u2019re training. You\u2019re trying to put your best foot forward. \u2018Golden\u2019 really means a lot to me, because I feel like at that time, I needed a song like that.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tKPop Demon Hunters<\/a> scored two additional nominations at the\u00a02026 Golden Globes<\/a> beyond the nod for \u201cGolden.\u201d The popular Netflix release landed in the running for Best Motion Picture, Animated and Cinematic, and Box Office Achievement. <\/p>\n
