\n\tICMP<\/a>, the global music publishing trade body,\u00a0unveils the appointment of several top industry executives to its industry metrics expert group, and to its dedicated Asia Pacific regional group.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohn Reston, Universal Music Publishing Group president of global administration, is named as chair of ICMP\u2019s Industry Metrics Expert Group, the recently-formed specialized\u00a0international group\u00a0that\u2019s populated by senior representatives of member companies and selected execs from its 80 national industry trade associations. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs chair, Reston will guide a group that was instrumental in the creation of the first-ever ICMP Music Publishing Markets Analysis.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the same time, Damian Rinaldi, CEO of AMPAL, ICMP\u2019s Australasian national trade body member, is appointed as chair of ICMP Global Regional Group \u2013 Asia Pacific, one of five regional bodies that includes North America, Europe, LatAm and Africa. Each of those groups gather ICMP\u2019s companies, national group MPAs and ICMP teams to tackle region-specific market issues.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe newly-appointed vice chair for APAC is Frederica Wong, Asia director for\u00a0Kobalt Music Group.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAPAC remains ICMP\u2019s busiest region, it being one of intense industrial challenges, sharp market growth and advocacy challenges \u2013 from Australia to South Korea, from Hong Kong to India, and beyond,\u201d comments John Phelan, ICMP director general.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trade body\u2019s industry metrics group, he continues, has underpinned the first-ever Music Publishing Markets Analysis survey, \u201cand we have exciting future plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAdds Jackie Alway, ICMP chair and Universal Music Publishing Group EVP \/ MPA U.K.: \u201cICMP\u2019s Expert and Regional Groups play a vital role in shaping the operations and future directions of our industry across multiple facets.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tICMP represents roughly 90% of the world\u2019s commercially released music \u2014 more than 170 million tracks. Last year, the organization\u2019s first-ever report on international music revenue found that the earnings from 16 of the top music markets was worth more than $11 billion<\/a>. The actual global total is much higher.<\/p>\n
