CHAMPAIGN, Ill.\u2013 Illinois guard Keaton Wagler<\/a> (Shawnee, Kansas) is Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Wagler\u00a0earns the award for the second straight week, and third time this season.<\/p>\n

Keaton Wagler<\/a> Highlights (Jan. 5-11)

\n\u2022 Led the Illini to two wins last week, averaging a team-leading 18 points with six rebounds and 3.5 assists

\n\u2022 Game-high 19 points with five rebounds and four assists as Illinois earned a Quad 1 win at No. 19 Iowa

\n\u2022 Game-high 17 points with seven rebounds and three assists in a home win over Rutgers

\n\u2022 Shot 47.6% from the field, including 45.5% from 3-point range, and 84.6% from the free throw line

\n\u2022 Extended his double figures scoring streak to eight straight games, which includes all five games in Big Ten play<\/p>\n

This marks the fifth time in nine\u00a0selections this\u00a0season that an Illini has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Prior to Wagler’s three accolades,\u00a0teammate\u00a0David Mirkovic<\/a> twice earned the award.<\/p>\n
