COLLEGE PARK, MD \u2013 The University of Maryland women’s\u00a0lacrosse team began practice on Monday, January 12\u00a0ahead of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

The Terps will open the season on the road, traveling to face Syracuse in the Dome on Feb. 6. Last season, Syracuse defeated Maryland in College Park in a top-10 matchup to open the season.

\n\u00a0

\nMaryland will then host its first home game of the year\u00a0against Virginia on Feb. 14. The two teams last met during the 2025 One Love game at Notre Dame Preparatory School. The One Love game was founded in 2010 to honor the memory of former Virginia women’s lacrosse student-athlete Yeardley Love.<\/p>\n

Maryland will be led by key All-American returners\u00a0Kori Edmondson<\/a>,\u00a0Neve O’Ferrall<\/a>,\u00a0Kayla Gilmore<\/a>,\u00a0JJ Suriano<\/a>, and\u00a0Kennedy Major<\/a>. Edmondson is coming off a standout junior season in which she was named the 2025 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and a Tewaaraton Award Top-25 finalist.

\nThe Terps also welcome three transfers to College Park. Maryland native\u00a0Keeley Block<\/a>\u00a0joins the program after four seasons at Penn. Block earned 2025 Second Team All-Ivy and Second Team IWLCA All-Region honors after starting 19 games and recording 42 goals last season.\u00a0

\nGraduate transfer\u00a0Kristen Shanahan<\/a>\u00a0joins the Terps after playing at Notre Dame. A team captain for the Irish in 2025, Shannahan started 14 games and finished second on the team with 27 goals and 41 points.

\nSenior goalkeeper\u00a0Caitlin Boden<\/a>\u00a0joins the Terps after three seasons at James Madison. Boden finished her JMU career ranked fifth in program history in saves (196) and 19th in save percentage (.438).

\nMaryland also welcomes nine freshmen to College Park, led by\u00a0Ava Meyn<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sofia Herrera<\/a>, who were both named to the Inside Lacrosse Freshman Power 100. Meyn was ranked No. 7, while Herrera checked in at No. 37. Meyn was also named USA Lacrosse Northeast Player of the Year.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0team will open the season playing at SECU Stadium. Stay tuned for details of when we’ll return to the ‘Plex.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Single\u2011game tickets for the 2026 season will be announced soon. Fans interested in attending multiple home events can now purchase a Maryland Athletics Pride Pass for $59. The Pride Pass is an all\u2011Olympic sports season ticket that grants access to all regular\u2011season home contests for wrestling, baseball, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse\u00a0during the 2025\u201126 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
