\n\tTimoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>\u2018s self-described \u201cpursuit of greatness<\/a>\u201d is paying off: He nabbed the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture \u2013 Musical or Comedy at the 83rd annual Golden Globes ceremony, honoring his performance as 1950s table tennis hustler Marty Mauser in Josh Safdie\u2019s Marty Supreme<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up: Always be grateful for what you have. It\u2019s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. But I\u2019d be lying if I didn\u2019t say those moments didn\u2019t make this moment that much sweeter,\u201d Chalamet said from the stage at the Beverly Hilton after expressing admiration for everyone nominated.<\/p>\n

\n\tChalamet thanked Safdie \u201cfor this portrait, for your mind, for your worldview.\u201d He then shouted out his \u201camazing cast,\u201d including Kevin O\u2019Leary, the real-life businessman who played the film\u2019s millionaire villain.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf you would have told me when I was 19 years old that I would be thanking \u2018Mr. Wonderful\u2019 from Shark Tank \u2026 I would have been stunned, but I would have been very grateful,\u201d he said. The camera cut to O\u2019Leary cracking up in the audience. \u201cYou\u2019re laughing, so I got away with that. Thank you, Kevin,\u201d he said with mock fear. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe win marks Chalamet\u2019s first Golden Globe after four previous nominations (for 2018\u2019s Call Me by Your Name, 2019\u2019s Beautiful Boy, 2024\u2019s Wonka, and 2025\u2019s A Complete Unknown). He also won the Critics\u2019 Choice Award for his performance earlier this month. At the Globes, Chalamet beat out Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), George Clooney (Jay Kelly), Jesse Plemons (Bugonia), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), and Lee Byung-Hun (No Other Choice).<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the film, Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, a motor-mouthed Lower East Side shoe salesman in 1952 New York who dreams of becoming the world\u2019s greatest table tennis player.\u00a0 In his Rolling Stone review,<\/a> David Fear compared Chalamet to early Al Pacino and Dustin Hoffman, writing that it\u2019s \u201call twitches and vibrations and seeming like he\u2019s in a constant state of motion even when standing still.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMarty Supreme has grossed over $71 million worldwide.
